Welcome to Elianthe’s Guesthouse (Battenburg House Anno 1850), in the heart of Swellendam, third oldest town of South Africa. Situated close to many restaurants and attractions, here guests can experience our beautiful town with it’s historic buildings, blue mountains and old oak trees. This 180 year old Victorian house has been renovated, but has kept much of it’s former historic character. Surviving the horrific fire of 1865, this is truly one of the few national monuments of our town. The late Sir Henry Battenburg arrived in the Cape in 1850 and lived with his wife in the house on the main road. Locals rumoured that he was a prince. His signage can still be seen on one of the windows. Elianthe’s Guesthouse is a lovely Victorian styled building with majestic views of the Langeberg mountains. The clean fresh air of our beautiful surrounds will ensure a well rested body and mind. Guests can lounge at the pool area, relax under the trees, canopies, umbrellas or one of the many quiet spots on the front terrace. We focus on detail, to make our guests feel comfortable and at home. Each one of the 6 en-suite rooms is decorated with care. The atmosphere is warm and hospitable. Here you enter as guests, but leave as friends!
